How to become a doctor, pilot, or astronaut
Every profession follows the same shape: raise the stat the job checks, earn the exact degree it demands, clear any license, then apply from 18 and climb. What changes is the numbers, and BitLife enforces them exactly. Every figure below is the game’s own requirement, not a rule of thumb.
The formula
- Raise the stat the job checks (Smarts for most, and some also check Looks).
- Earn the degree and major it requires. You cannot apply without them.
- Clear any license (driving, pilot) and keep a clean record where the job demands one.
- Apply from 18 and take promotions by keeping your stats up and your boss happy.
Exact requirements
These are the real gates the game checks when you apply:
| Job | Education | Smarts | Looks | License / clean record | Salary cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brain Surgeon | Medical | 90 | β | clean record | $821,715 |
| Family Physician | Medical | 80 | β | clean record | $247,368 |
| Dentist | Dental | 80 | β | clean record | $197,679 |
| Veterinarian | Veterinary | 80 | β | clean record | $115,472 |
| Pilot | Undergraduate | 80 | β | pilot license, clean record | $280,735 |
| Lawyer | Law | 50 | β | clean record | $182,995 |
| Judge | Law | 80 | β | clean record | $196,820 |
| Architect | Undergraduate | 70 | β | clean record | $104,048 |
| Accountant | Undergraduate | 50 | β | clean record | $70,295 |
The numbers are hard walls. A Brain Surgeon needs Medical school and Smarts 90; a Pilot needs a STEM degree, Smarts 80, a pilot license, and a clean record. Miss the stat and the job never appears. Every career and its gates are in Careers.
Astronaut: the rank ladder
Astronaut is a special career with its own promotion track. The game pushes you toward a STEM degree to qualify (players also report needing a pilot license), then you climb four ranks. The requirements per rank, from the game:
| Rank | Smarts | Years in agency | Missions to promote | Salary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cadet | 60 | 0 | 3 | $65,000 β $75,000 |
| Captain | 70 | 3 | 3 | $76,000 β $100,000 |
| Major | 80 | 5 | 4 | $101,000 β $175,000 |
| General | 90 | 10 | 5 | $180,000 β $375,000 |
You enter at Cadet with just Smarts 60, not the 90 players often quote. That 90 is the wall for the top rank, General. Each rank needs more Smarts, more years in the agency, and more completed missions. See the full Astronaut data page.
