Arena and PvP
The Palosseum (arena) is Palmon: Survival’s competitive PvP mode. You battle other players’ teams for ranking points, seasonal rewards, and glory. This guide covers how the arena works and strategy for competitive play.
Arena Basics
What is the Palosseum?
The arena is an asynchronous PvP system where you:
- Challenge other players’ recorded teams
- Win/lose to gain or lose ranking points
- Climb seasonal rank tiers (Bronze β Gold β Diamond β Master)
- Earn rewards for rank placement
Important: The arena uses your current battle team. You don’t need a separate “PvP team”βyour main team carries over.
Ranking System
Rank Tiers (Progression Path)
Bronze
Entry-level rank. 0β100 points. Rewards: Common items, small prestige coins.
Silver
100β300 points. Rewards: Rare items, moderate prestige coins.
Gold
300β600 points. Rewards: Rare+ items, high prestige coins, exclusive cosmetics.
Diamond
600+ points. Rewards: Legendary items, prestige currency, titles, season badge.
Rank Points
Winning: +10β30 points (higher opponent rank = more points)
Losing: -5β15 points (lower opponent rank = larger loss)
Placement bonus: End-of-season multiplier based on final rank
Seasonal Reset
Seasons last 4β6 weeks. At season end:
- Your rank resets to Bronze tier
- You keep accumulated cosmetics and titles
- Seasonal rewards (exclusive skins, borders) are granted based on peak rank reached
Matchmaking
Opponent Selection
When you browse potential opponents:
Shows opponent name, rank tier, and team power estimate- Win chance: Displayed as a percentage (higher = easier)
- Refresh: Available opponents rotate every few minutes
Power Estimation
Opponent teams are shown with a rough power level:
- Power under yours: High win chance (70β90%)
- Power near yours: Even matchup (45β55%)
- Power above yours: Underdog matchup (10β30%)
Note: Power is not exact. Synergies and team composition can flip close matches.
Opponent Availability
You can challenge the same opponent multiple times in one season, but:
- Each win doesn’t prevent rematches
- Rematch cooldowns prevent spam-challenging one player repeatedly
- Fresh opponents appear on rotation
Team Strategy for Arena
Building an Arena Team
Since arena uses your main team, optimize for versatility over specialization:
Recommended composition:
- 1 fast attacker (acts first)
- 1 tank (absorbs burst damage)
- 1 ATK buffer (multiplies damage)
- 1 healer (sustains through battles)
- 1 status control (paralysis/sleep to shut down enemies)
- 1 flex role (whatever suits your playstyle)
Common Arena Threats
Speed-heavy teams: Prioritize first-turn damage. Paralyze the enemy’s fastest creature to equalize speed.
Tank-heavy teams: Focus on DEF breaks or ATK-boosted burst damage to overcome their tankiness.
Healer-heavy teams: These can stall indefinitely. Bring a creature with poison or DoT (damage-over-time) to chip them down.
Control-heavy teams: Sleep/paralysis immunity or cleanse support is critical.
Turn Order Advantage
First turn advantage: Huge in arena. If your team acts first:
- Apply paralysis to enemy’s fastest creature
- Boost your own ATK creature
- Follow with damage to secure early kill
If you’re behind in speed: Use a DEF buffer on your tank to absorb the first turn, then retaliate next round.
Glory Shop
What is it? A special shop that sells exclusive items for Prestige Coins (arena-only currency).
Items available:
- Evolution materials (faster than normal farming)
- Rare cosmetics (skins, animations, titles)
- Stat-boost items (temporary buffs for battles)
- Premium ingredients (breeding materials)
Strategy: Prioritize evolution materials early season. Buy cosmetics when you reach your target rank.
Seasonal Rewards
Rank-Based Rewards (End of Season)
| Rank Tier | Minimum Points | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 | Common items, 100 prestige coins |
| Silver | 100 | Rare items, 300 prestige coins, title |
| Gold | 300 | Rare+ items, 600 prestige coins, exclusive skin |
| Diamond | 600 | Legendary items, 1000+ prestige coins, border, season badge |
Milestone Rewards (Earned During Season)
+50 points: Summon ticket (creature roll)
+100 points: Evolution material
+200 points: Rare cosmetic
+300 points: Premium currency
These stack, so reaching 300 points earns all three milestones’ rewards.
Common Arena Mistakes
Mistake 1: Bringing a mono-element team
β Enemy team with advantageous type counters wipes you
Fix: Include 2β3 different elements
Mistake 2: Ignoring matchups and challenging stronger players
β Consistent losses drop your rank quickly
Fix: Challenge opponents with visible “high win chance” early season. Climb gradually.
Mistake 3: Forgetting to pick a fresh team for arena battles
β Using your farm team (weak creatures) instead of your combat roster
Fix: Verify you’re using your 6 strongest creatures, not farm workers
Mistake 4: Not using paralysis/control vs. speed teams
β Enemy team acts 3 times before you act once
Fix: If outmatched in speed, control the enemy’s fastest creature
Mistake 5: Spending all prestige coins immediately
β Rush buying cosmetics instead of farming evolution materials efficiently
Fix: Save coins early season. Buy materials. Only buy cosmetics if you hit your rank goal with coins remaining
Arena Economy
Prestige Coin Farming
Arena battles: Win = +5β20 coins (based on victory streak)
Rank milestones: +50β100 coins at each tier threshold
Seasonal rank reward: +100β1000 coins at season end based on final rank
Daily quests: +20 coins for daily arena quest completion
Total per season: F2P players earn 1000β3000 prestige coins, enough to buy 3β5 evolution materials or exclusive cosmetics.
Value of Items in Glory Shop
Evolution materials: Worth ~100 farm runs (huge time save)
Cosmetics: Cosmetic only (no power boost), purely preference
Stat-boost items: Temporary buffs; use strategically in important matches
Recommendation: Spend on materials first, cosmetics second.
Advanced Strategy
Win Streak Mechanics
Some seasons track consecutive wins as a modifier:
- Win #1: +10 points
- Win #3: +15 points (streak bonus)
- Win #5: +20 points (major streak bonus)
- Loss: Streak resets to 0
Strategy: Lock in a win streak early, take safe challenges while streak is active, refresh opponents to find easier targets when close to a streak loss.
Seasonal Meta Shifts
Arena meta changes each season as:
- New creatures are released
- Balance patches adjust abilities
- Seasonal events boost certain creature types
Adapt by: Watching the top-ranked players’ teams and adjusting 1β2 creatures per season to stay relevant.
Defensive Team vs Offensive Team
You can set a defensive formation that appears when opponents challenge you:
- Use a tanky, defensive team for your defensive formation
- Use an aggressive offense for your attacking team
- This confuses opponents who see you as “hard to beat” but fall to your actual team
Advanced: Some players set identical teams for psychological pressure, assuming opponents think they’re facing a defensive wall.
F2P vs Spending
F2P players can:
- Reach Gold rank with optimal team synergy and smart targeting
- Earn 1000+ prestige coins per season
- Buy evolution materials via arena currency (saves grinding)
Spending provides:
- Faster evolution via premium currency
- Access to premium cosmetics
- Status/prestige only (no gameplay advantage)
The arena is not pay-to-win. Synergy and strategy beat whale accounts with random creatures.
See Guides for team building and Abilities for synergy strategy.
