Game Systems Overview

Palmon: Survival has four interconnected systems that form the complete game loop: Battles (how you win), Capturing (how you build your team), Breeding (how you improve creatures), and Economy (how you manage resources).

Battles

Battles happen in the explore mode where you face wild Palmons or enemy squads. When a battle starts, you see your creatures vs. enemies in a formation, and the battle plays out with turn-based or action elements (depending on game mode).

Key mechanics:

  • Your creature wins by defeating enemies
  • Position matters (frontline, midline, backline affect which creature gets targeted)
  • Element matchups provide advantages (Water beats Fire, Fire beats Earth, etc.)
  • Each battle win rewards coins, experience, and sometimes evolution materials

See How battles work for mechanics details.

Capturing

The core loop is capturing wild Palmons rather than just defeating them. When you encounter a wild creature, you can fight it to weaken it, then use a capture tool to catch it.

Key mechanics:

  • Weakened creatures are easier to capture (lower health = higher capture rate)
  • You spend capture tools (limited resource) on each attempt
  • Rarer creatures are harder to capture
  • Captured creatures join your roster and can be added to your team

See Capturing and elements for capture loop details.

Breeding

The Nursery building lets you breed creatures to create new ones with inherited traits. This is how you optimize your creatures long-term.

Key mechanics:

  • Two creatures breed to produce offspring
  • Offspring inherit traits from parents (genetic-style system)
  • Breeding requires time and resources
  • Better trait combinations create stronger creatures

See Breeding and traits for trait system details.

Economy

You earn resources from battles, jobs, and quests. You spend them on evolution, upgrades, and job assignments.

Key resources:

  • Coins — Spent on creature upgrades and job assignments
  • Evolution Materials — Spent on evolving creatures to next form
  • Experience — Gained from battles, automatically levels creatures
  • Capture Tools — Spent on catching wild creatures
  • Trait Materials — Spent on trait inheritance through breeding

Jobs let you assign creatures to work (mining, logging, harvesting) and earn passive income without grinding battles.

See Resource flow for spending priorities.

How Systems Connect

You capture diverse creatures to build teams. You battle to earn resources. You use resources to evolve creatures (making them stronger) and breed them (optimizing traits). Stronger creatures win harder battles, which earn more resources, completing the loop.

No single system stands alone—they’re all interconnected.
